This was a great movie. When I saw it in the theatre I was struck by the opening. No list of actors, no mention of the director or the producers, no mention of the writers or costumers. None of the usual self promotion. Just a simple "Based On An Actual Event" followed by a quote from Plato, "Only The Dead Have Seen The End Of War," and then some background on what led to our involvement in Somalia.

The story and the military personnel involved were the stars.

It definitely gets high ratings from me. Another thing I liked is with all the explosions they reigned in the pyrotechnics. There is very little fire when an explosion occurs unless you hit a gas tank.

Actually, not so much. Having read the book by Mark Bowden and having seen the documentary the History Channel did, I must say that the movie is perhaps the most historically accurate film I have seen.

It was a well done and historically accurate movie. It was not a work of fiction. Fiction might have come into play with some of the dialog, but the rest of the movie is accurate. And who cares what the somalis think about it? Most of them would not have the means to see it. You think they get dressed up and take their dates to the movie theater on Saturday night? This is a 4th world country. They don't even have indoor plumbing.
