As you may have heard the Bush Administration said each and every one of us would now get a nice rebate.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will all go to the Arabs, if we purchase a computer it will all go to India, if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will all go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, if we purchase a good car it will all go to Japan, if we purchase useless crap it will all go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America, so the only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes, beer and visit Indian casinos, since those are the only businesses still in the US.

As strange as this may sound, I guess paying down debt can be as much fun as just about anything else, depending on how you look at it.

I worked about 2 months during the summer but I didn't file a tax return cuz I didn't make enough too. My W-2s said the feds didn't take any out which was strange, thought they did, oh well, only made like $700.

Seriously, I dont' know your parents or you. I will say though that there were way too may amended 1040EZ's on my kids part, when it was way more beneficial for them to be claimed on me, due to my income. It may be different with you folks, if income is over 35k and no other kids at home? Check it out.

I gave my kids any 'refunds' they would have gotten, out of the increased refund that I qualified for. On the other hand if they'd claim separate, they could not have qualified for what they got in grants. Under my tax umbrella, they got way more.

Like I said, talk to a tax expert.

Kathianne is right, it mostly likely a greater financial gain by your parents using you as a dependent rather than you receiving a return. Think of it this way, you do not want the government having anymore money than is necessary.

The unearned income grand is available to all persons that worked at all regardless how much tax they paid, however it is taxable so it has to be reported in the 08 tax filing. Puerto Ricans don't pay any federal tax but pay SS/medicare and most qualify for the $1,000.00 unearned income because they fall into the tax giveaway created for the unortunate black folks that vote Democratic.

My wife is filing a federal tax return this year but we don't take the unearned tax refund but will use the airdrop tax refund to stimulate the economy towards funding our two boys 11th grade tutition.

That generally is true. I always claimed my kids and then cut them a check in the amount of the refund they would have recieved if they had filed on their own. Everybody wins.

i had heard that is what they were trying to do Stripey and then they idea was killed. haven't heard anything else about it. so either it is true and they are just trying to keep it really under wraps or the motion was killed.

unless someone has a direct link/quote we won't know until we get our returns or they announce after we cash the checks. either way it'll be fun! yah!

According to the IRS web sight it specificly states that it is NOT an advance on next years tax return...

At least the last time I checked, it has been a few weeks though and you know the gov't they could have changed their minds!!
