ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Auto parts retailer Advance Auto says a computer hacker may have gotten financial information of as many as 56,000 customers in Ohio and seven other states.
The Roanoke, Va., company says the customers shopped at 14 specific stores between December 2001 and December 2004. In a news release, Advance Auto says the stores in question include three in Ohio: in Columbus, Canal Fulton and Mansfield.
Advance Auto spokeswoman Shelly Whitaker says the company discovered several weeks ago that the information had been breached and is sending letters to affected customers.
She says law enforcement officials are investigating, and Advance is working with a security expert.
