It's not that. It's that people's hearing naturally starts to tune out of high frequencies like that around age 25.

I know I have tone issues since my teens from concerts in the 70's & 80's. I don't imagine much has changed. Maybe better equipment to distroy more nerves in the inner ear.

Why waste time on that crap? Easiest way to repel teens is to tell them there's work to be done if they're going to stick around.
