The u.s. government along with employers, in their lust for cheap labor. Is allowing anyone, and everyone into the u.s., and while not all illegals are dangerous criminals, we have no idea who the rapists, child molesters, and murderers are.
We need to take back our government and kick out those who do not get tough with so-called us businesses, and the us business who knowlingly hire illegally.
do you wanna pay less, and be less safe, or pay more and be more safe?
in the short term it may hurt, but we cant allow cheap labor to lower wages, and let the walmarts of america, put mom and pop out of business, along with our manufacturing jobs, cause u know where walmart gets its goods from.

does anybody care about the government/business's role in this?

You are confusing two issues. Issue one is the cheap illegal alien labor in the US. Issue two is importing goods manufactured outside the US that are cheaper than American-made goods. I have a big problem with the first, and no problem with the second.

do we really? do you think that America would stand for vegetable prices that were quadruple what they are now? Do you think that Americans would stand for hugely inflated costs in restaurants, and hotels, and construction and building and grounds maintenance?
What do you think would really happen to the American economy if, tomorrow, we shipped every immigrant without proper documentation back to his or her native land?

While I agree you got the issues correct, I disagree with you about not caring that it's better for the US to be importing more and more from China. Reason one being, China has manipulated it's currency to circumvent our trade deals with that nation, making their imports cheaper, undercutting US manufacturers while boosting Chinese manufacturers. China uses virtual slave labor, in some instances, child slave labor, and forcing American business to compete in that environment with all the regulation and taxes of the US is driving many out of business, or overseas. We should not just sit by and let this happen, nor will ill founded rhetoric about NAFTA solve the problem.

Regarding China, their inclusion in the WTO is bringing their government around, albeit slowly, to increase economic freedom and get rid of the unfair labor practices that you refer to. Not that the US has nothing it can do to compete - we could certainly decrease corporate taxation, abolish compulsory union membership, or lower the minimum wage to make manufacturing in America more attractive.

Or require China to play by the same fair standards, especially with their currency, or face penalties, between the free trade deal, and most favored nation status China is isn't playing fair, and that is not at the heart of free trade, least I don't believe so, if it represents a race to the bottom, then no one will support it. We must ensure it's fair as well, or that's how it will seem.
