What determines how many Rep Points you give someone?

When I rep someone, it asks if I want to give positive or negative Rep points and Rep power. But it never asks how many points.

What determines how many rep points and rep power I'm giving?

Your "Rep power" which is listed on the top right side of any of your posts. Right now, yours is 521.

when you pos someone they get the full amount.....when you neg them 1/2 that amount....

Your rep power determines how man rep points you give. As Manu mentioned, you give them the whole number if it's positive, half if it's negative. So, yes, at this moment in time, you give 521 rep points when you postive rep, approx. 260 when you neg rep. This formula is pre-set and you cannot vary it.

power is how many point you give....so when you pos rep me for explaining this you will add 521 to my rep points total.....however if you ding me you will deduct 260 form my rep points total

Tell you what, go ahead and hit me with a positive rep, making note of my numbers beforehand, then do the math. It's okay, I won't tell anyone... ;)
