Let's see if i understand this. Some officers are saying the military is in trouble.

Maybe I'm naive. but wouldnt it be the responsibility of the officers to make sure the military wasnt in trouble? I'm not a military person. But I do understand leadership a little. If the people in charge aren't creating suitable results, isnt it good to get different people in charge?

Can a military person help out here?

First is the source. The NYT. The most unAmerican major news organization in the country. Their sources are the Center for a New American Security and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, through its Foreign Policy magazine.

There is no data on what questions were asked or how many. Nor how they got 3400 responses. No ranks of the officers are mentioned. Not even a verification of service. The military does not and is not allowed to make political opinions. So how did they get get answers like this from so many people?

This is TM's bread and butter. Another left wing attempt to bash the military. A little digging will show that its all bullshit full of lies and twisted truths. If TM posts it you can bet it is not factual.

She thinks that what ever she reads that is bashing our country is the gods honest truth, no matter what the source. Granted most of her news sources are DU, Code Stink's website and MoveOn.org

The sites I listed were the ones the NYT listed as their sources. You really need to read more than the headline before posting.

Sixty percent say the U.S. military is weaker today than it was five
years ago

assuming this "source" is true, are you saying the other 40 percent are liars?

I should think that the opinions of current and retired command officers should carry significantly more weight than those of laymen in this particular arena...Don't you?

Lying...? No. Expressing an opinion. Were any of that 40% active, or were they retired? The study doesn't really say. Perhaps you should actually READ the study. The links provided at the end of the piece provide some eye-opening reading as well. But I'm not so sure you rather not just continue to stumble ahead with your eyes closed.

The government is having a struggle with adminstrating one of its departments? Well we should throw more money at the problem. That is the fix for everything, isn't it?

Truthmatters must be advocating a budget increase for the military.

There are limmits to even our great military machine.

There are "limits" to everything!

There are even limits to how much BS the NYT should be allowed to spew forth as the truth.

It seems, that ever time I turn around, the NYT has published another story, that lacks in professional diligence.

The article truthmatters uses is just another in a long line of "hit pieces".

I find it amazing, that the left always turns to the NYT to make their point, when ANY one who follows world news knows what kind of mean spirited, and left leaning articles they publish. Not to mention what despicable research they do on their pieces.

Heres your problem, the NYTs did not do this study.
Reporting things trobinet doesnt like is not being unfair.

What do you think of these soldiers?

If you look hard enough you can find anything to suport your views on the internet. You found what you needed to make your point about "unhappy" veterans. Look back in history and you will find the same groups in Vietnam and I'm sure they were around for every war. How many veterans are like me? Not unhappy with the state of the military? Not unhappy with the state of the war? We are ready for anything that comes at us. North Korea....I'm here in South Korea putting missiles and bombs on F-16's.....sound ready to you?

The question is bullshit. If I think Bush should nuke the whole place I would have to respond negativley but it sure as hell doesnt mean I dont think we should retreat like you try to infer.

And it's sad that you try to use lame polls to speak for 300 million people simply because it states what you want. You can find a stinkin poll to support almost anything you want on the internet these days.

You are just sad.

It is an indication of what the country is thinking.

You here dont seem to be able to grasp you are in the minority and a vast number of Americans have desided contrary to your stance on this war.

This next election will look much like the 2006 election. Your party will be sent to pasture for the failures to run the country in a way that benifits America.
I know the people on here did not want to hurt America but it has been hurt none the less. I forgive you.
