I hear that West Virginia will be the first caucus that ends in a few hours. It should give us a good indicator what will happen in some of the later contests. I dont know whether that will be accurate, but thats what i think at the moment.

Romney leads after 1st round of W.Va. GOP convention
The first ballot taken during today's West Virginia GOP Convention is complete. Here are the results.

Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer conceded defeat for Sen. John McCain at West Virginia's Republican state convention on Tuesday.

Roemer, who represented McCain at the Charleston event, asked McCain boosters to support Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on the second ballot in order to block former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

"The truth is, John didn't win, and John wants a strong organization," Roemer said.

The first ballot taken during Tuesday's West Virginia GOP Convention is complete. Here are the results:

Mitt Romney: 40.9 percent of the vote

Mike Huckabee: 33.1 percent

John McCain: 15.5 percent

Ron Paul: 10.4 percent

According to convention rules, a candidate must have more than 50 percent of the vote to be awarded the state's delegates.

That means a second ballot will be taken.

Also, after the initial ballot, the candidate receiving the least support is dropped from the ballot, which means Paul's name will not appear during the second round.

There is speculation on the convention floor that rather than stay with McCain on the second ballot, his supporters may switch to Huckabee in order to give him a victory over Romney.

That's exactly what happened. the McCain supporters went to Huckabee.

The message is clear. a victory for Huckabee is a victory for McCain.

Rush called the rip off plan first and Hannity is continuing to stress just what is going on. I wouldn't trust McCain or Huckabee at this point further than I can throw them. Huckabee is a dishonest shit hiding behind a Pastor's business card....... hopefully this will send him straight to hell. McCain is worse, He cheats like a liberal, lies like a liberal and looks like a possessed zombie....... I will vote for anyone but him. Obviously he has made promises to the Huckster to get his support on this.

I agree, I was just surprised that someone that is helping get McCain the nomination by supporting Huckabee would come out against him.
