Hell, yes; at a minimum, full restitution through community service - call it the Mountain Climbers and Runaway Brides Law.

I remember my Dad saying that America was tilted, and all the fruits and nuts rolled to California. Maybe he meant the West Coast in general...

Since you brought this up, here's a no-shitter for you.
My wife works for this company that provides expert witnesses for these corporations/manufacturers. companies when they get slapped with trivial lawsuits.
Well, apparently, nimrod walks into a national chain gym, and decides he's going to do some squats. Has never lifted over 135 pounds in his life. well, Atlas loads 600 pounds on the bar and goes into a squat. You can use your imagination and apply the laws of gravity to achieve the final ending to his weightlifting career. He blew out his back and both knees and is now a parapalegic.
So he sues the gym chain. And these knuckleheads settle out of court rather than face off with a dude in a wheelchair in a courtroom!
I'm sorry, but that is just about as stupid as one can get, and he basically gets a few mil for being a complete moron.

I gotta agree,P. I was watching that coverage yesterday and wondered why the climbers didn't come down before the storm hit.
By the way, does anyone know if their black Lab is o.k.? Not to sound silly, but I was worried about the dog,and wondered why they would take a dog with a coat like that up there!!!

Fox news is reporting.....the dog is o.k.!!!!!
They said it was a lab/sheperd mix. The host on Fox asked why you would take a dog on a trip like this? I don't know if this is common or not,but I wouldn't do it!!!

Hi, Krisy - good to see ya!
The reports I'm reading say that the dog may have saved the climbers' lives - lying across their bodies to keep them warm, and even helping them down the mountain after they were rescued. At least ONE creature up there seems to have had some sense!

HEY MM!!! Good to see you too!
I just heard something too abut the dog helping them to stay warm. I think your right about the dog being the only one to have any sense. I guess that will be the next big story we will be seeing all the time.....Climbers trapped on mountains.....these kinds of stories seem to go in waves.

A friend of mine went on vacation at the Grand Canyon. Her companion got injured while hiking and had to be evacuated out of the canyon. He got a bill for those services.
I'm guessing these folks will also.
