Court Case Could Alter Nev. Outcome

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A last-minute federal court battle over caucus rules demonstrates just how important a tight three-way Democratic presidential contest in Nevada has become in the battle for momentum headed into Super Tuesday's votes.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards are in a statistical dead heat in polling here before Saturday's caucuses. And Nevada's sizable blocs of Hispanic, union and urban voters could provide an indicator of where the race is headed on Feb. 5, when hundreds of delegates will be awarded in states with significant minority populations.

By contrast, Republican candidates have stayed away from the diverse electorate and unfamiliar electoral landscape as Nevada voters weigh in earlier than ever before.

No major GOP candidate has set foot in the state for two months, and some Republicans are bracing for a possible surprise first-place showing by long-shot Texas Rep. Ron Paul, the only Republican to broadcast TV ads in Nevada.

Romney's heading there as we speak. He has been pretty clear about spending the earlier today in SC and then heading off to Nevada.

Thinking about this story alittle more. Can you imagine what would happen in this race if on Saturday, Fred Thompson won South Carolina and Ron Paul won Nevada?

Very interesting scenario avatar4321, and not entirely impossible. Ron Paul has already been here, as have most Republican candidates. I just missed Hunter a little while ago. However, if either Romney or Paul come here again, I'm going to make a concerted effort to see them. I would like to see and listen to them both in person. No doubt I'll end up voting for one of them for President.

The more I think about it, the more I'm coming to the realization that Romney is probably the "total package." If he comes here and I get to not only see him and get some pictures, if he then goes on to be President, he'll be the first President I've ever seen or met.

Gotta love Hillary, trying to suppress the vote of the very "Latinos" she claims to be all for. What a crock.

Clinton Inc is not happy over a Judge ruling against them

Obama hit over labor union ads
By Christina Bellantoni
January 18, 2008

NORTH LAS VEGAS — Sen. Barack Obama's presidential rivals yesterday accused him of hypocrisy because a labor union that backs his candidacy is running attack ads against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The political arm of the powerful Culinary Workers union, which says in its Spanish-language radio ads that Mrs. Clinton does not respect Hispanics, won a victory yesterday when a federal court blocked a lawsuit brought by Clinton supporters who wanted to stop casino workers from voting in at-large precinct caucuses set up on the Strip.

The nasty back-and-forth between the two campaigns, with former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina also weighing in, is the backdrop for tomorrow's Nevada caucus.

After Mr. Obama won the backing of Unite Here, a union which represents more than 60,000 dishwashers, bellhops and other workers in Las Vegas, a teachers union supporting Mrs. Clinton sued the state party and said its process to allow those workers and others to caucus on the Strip was unfair to the rest of Nevada.

A judge yesterday ruled against the teachers union, saying the state party is free to set its own rules.

Mr. Obama, of Illinois, hailed the decision as encouraging broad participation, while Mrs. Clinton, of New York, said that although her campaign would follow the rules, the process is still "unfair."

"Make no mistake — the current system that inhibits some shift workers from being able to participate, while allowing others to do so, would seem to benefit other campaigns," the campaign said.

She only wants to suppress their votes if they have the gall to vote for Obama

Typical of the left, they want every voted counted - as long as the vote goes the way they want it to go
