Story Highlights
Sen. Barack Obama's father is from Kenya, where his grandmother and uncle live
The Obamas live in a remote village, don't own a TV but keep up with the election
On Hillary Clinton, Obama's grandmother says the best man or woman should win
Sen. Obama first visited Kenya after his father died in 1982
His father, his grandmother and most of his family members in Kenya are Muslims.

but I guess bigoted islamo-phobia is tough to disguise.

OLD
Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.
New
We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.
The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:
1. A congregation committed to ADORATION.
2. A congregation preaching SALVATION.
3. A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION.
4. A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
5. A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION.
6. A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION.
7. A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.
8. A congregation committed to LIBERATION.
9. A congregation committed to RESTORATION.
10. A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.

I have no reason to defend Romney. I could give a shit how much mud gets slung by republicans at one another during the primary season. As far as I am concerned, the more mud they throw all over each other, the better I like it. If your winner comes out of the convention covered in mud, he'll be that much easier to beat and his democratic opponent will have that much longer coattails.....

Ronnie and Newt's revolution started to die the minute you all impeached Clinton for a blow job.... it's been slipping away ever since. Today, more americans self identify as democrats than republicans by an increasing margin.... generic congressional ballots put democrats ahead nationwide...and our presidential candidates kick your candidate's asses.
CHANGE is the biggest cry from both party's candidates. If Dubya had been anything other than an abysmal failure and an embarrassment to the republican party and the nation, republicans, at least, would be running on a platform of staying the powerfully successful course! Ooops. LOL

No, it's the handbook we libs live our lives by. It's kinda like the Bible except it's for libs. We get it free from the government when we "come of age" at 12. It's paid for by tax dollars. It comes with condoms, a welfare check, a dimebag of sticky icky and of course the lib cool kid card. I've quoted it several times in many of my posts. I'm surprised you haven't caught onto it sooner. :dunno: We need to start a thread that compiles all the quotes I've written from the handbook.

it is interesting that post election analysis of Gore's campaign, when put in light of Clinton's enduring popularity, tended to indicate that he screwed up by NOT getting Bill more involved in his campaign. he still smells worse than clinton ever did.
and democrats in congress saw how the impeachment of Clinton was a pyrrhic victory for the republicans and how it really cost them in the long run - they were not about to make the same mistake.
I remember, back in the midst of the senate impeachment trial, Gallup ran a poll and asked voters if they could have the choice between Clinton and Dole to make that day, who would they chose....and Clinton was more popular then than he was when he was elected in '96!

I think the Monday morning quarterbacking about Gore was quite likely an attempt to find an excuse for his losing. There is simply no way to know what effect hanging with Billy would have had, as people can say anything after the election. Also, it is easy to forget what a pariah he was at the time.
As for Bush, I think it is always wise to run as your own person.

regarding Clinton we'll have to agree to disagree. He was never a pariah in my eyes or in the eyes of most democrats that I knew...we were disappointed in him, but we all knew that the witch hunt kangaroo court impeachment spectacle was just republican theater and it certainly came back to bite them in the ass.

Everyone is harping about change because change is enevitable. Easiest campaign promise there is to keep. Someday these candidates are gonna wise up and realize that people are a bit particular about the changes they would like to see.

This must be paramount in dispelling the obamarama myth. If a 'white' christian belonged to a church that held just a fraction of the color "commitment" this would be all over the news.
