View Full Version : Is the United States Going in the Opposite Direction to the Rest of the World?

As the rest of the world is becoming more democratic and moves towards free market economies, socialism has gone mainstream in the United States.
We have known for years that the leadership of the Democrat Party favors world socialism. MoveOn.org is just the organized manifestation of that doctrinaire philosophy. If the MoveOn.org people get what they want next year, and there is a fairly high probability that they will, we may very well be making an irreversible move towards European-style socialism.
With a Democrat president and both houses of Congress, we might indeed get socialized health care, a surrender to the war against Islamo-Fascism, and the disabling of our economy for the hoax of man-made global warming. Like every other entitlement that this country has established, socialized health care, once adopted, will be perpetuated indefinitely. Social Security and Medicare alone are going to require a 30% tax rate to maintain within fifty years. Add socialized medicine, and you have Sweden in North America.
As Thomas Jefferson said over two centuries ago: "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." The steps that the government might take in order to combat "man-made global warming" will seriously imperil the economic growth of our country. Add high tax rates; and the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven this country for over 200 years will be extinguished.
The reasons the MoveOn.orgs of the United States may get what they want in 2008 is due to the simultaneous alignment of the following:

Of course we are going in a different direction. Most countries seek peaceful solutions to their problems. The U.S. (under the Bush reign) started a war and covets others. Which is why this country has become so unpopular.

That doesn't address the points of the article. :slap:

At the current time I think the socialist lean is in direct response to the fascist movement the nation has taken over the last 6 or 7 years.

America is not a liberal country. If Dems run on socialized health care, a surrender to the war against Islamo-Fascism, and the disabling of our economy for the hoax of man-made global warming - they will lose
In o6 Dems ran conservative Dems and they are the ones keeping libs like Reid and Pelosi in check

marine makes some excellent points. the rest of the world is becoming more conservative: france, germany, canada.. while the democratic party thinks its time for socialism

When liberalsim fails here, the left says the right people were not in charge or their programs were under funded
Not that their liberalsim was a failure to begin with

what does that have to do with anything?
I think it is interesting. But i dont think the US is going socialist. I think people will reject it if we explain what it actually does.

You are correct, a'21. The US is not going to ever go "Socialist" and that is not what any Democrat, especially this one, advocates.

We are. however, going to make the corporations and other business entities more responsible for their actions that adversely affect our population. It may take a while but eventually even you will understand that you have been voting against yourself, your children and your neighbors for years and years.
Check back with me when we get the health care debacle at least recognised.

In the last several elections, the military vote went 75% to 25% for Republicans
That is why Gore wanted the military vote tossed out in Fl in 2000

I'd need to see a link to those percentages. but even if they are correct, who cares? The military does what the government needs it to do, the government doesn't send the military to do what the MILITARY wants to do.
The military's support for one party over another is not necessarily indicative of the correctness of the foreign policy decisions of that party.

You know it to be true - or you would not have also posted your excuse.
The US military knows full well how Dems fells about them. They have been called terrorists, cold blooded killers, uneducated, compared to Nazis and Pol Pot by high ranking Dems

Here's an article discussing the military vote:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5964655/
...Unlike the general public, the military generally comes out to vote in higher percentages. About 70 percent of the 1.4 million active duty military members voted in 2000 compared with about 51 percent of the general public, according to federal election records.
But determining the political leanings of the nation’s military has traditionally been difficult. The military is prickly about giving pollsters and academics unfettered access to its troops.
A poll conducted late last year by the Military Times found that 57 percent of those surveyed consider themselves Republican, while 13 percent identified with the Democrats. Among the officer corps the numbers were different. Nearly 66 percent of officers considered themselves Republican compared with 9 percent Democratic. Nearly 30 percent of those surveyed by the Military Times declined to answer the questions or said they were independent. ...

The military's support for one party over another is not necessarily indicative of the correctness of the foreign policy decisions of that party. Yet you routinely tout your military experience as leaving you more qualified to access a political position. :finger3:
