Sorry bout that,
1. I think its wrong.
2. The kind that is in Nevada.
3. But here is where I get off track, I do sometimes play *The Lottery*.
4. Which is a type of gambling.
5. If we didn't have it here in Texas, I wouldn't gamble at all, but we have it.
6. I'm a small time player of it, if I won, I would donate most of it to charities, and needy peoples.

I don't see anything wrong with gambling as long as it is done in moderation. Gambling can be addicting but so can many other things. If gambling becomes an addiction then that person should strive to avoid it as one should do with drinking, smoking or any other addicting behavior.
However, simply because it is an addiction for some does not mean it should be banned for all.
I realize the context for this following verse is in reference to sexual immorality, but it applies to other things as well:
1 Corinthians 6:12
"Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything.
Me, I like sitting down and playing Blackjack occassionally or the video poker games but I value my money, I don't like to lose and I am not foolish enough to believe I will hit it big so I very rarely even play anymore.
Personally, I could care less if gambling were banned. It would not affect me at all... except... I am waiting for my dad to win the lottery, but it would not affect me in the slightest way if gambling were banned. However, I don't think it should be banned. That should not be something the government interferes with IMHO.

There's nothing wrong with gambling. If a person is so weak that they let it rule them then they should take responsibility and attempt to fix their personality flaws.

Will power. It's a choice between living your life and ruining it. Putting the blame on an "addiction" is simply not taking responsibility for one's actions.

Nobody should be allowed to drink while gambling. Gives the house an unfair advantage.

It takes more than "will power". While determination helps there are some people who are prone to this behavior more than others therefore making this a constant battle. Then there are those whose lives have gone awry and what they thought would ease the pain became a problem all it's own.
That's why we have counselors, doctors, detox programs and a many other services to help those that seek a better solution & healing of their pain. It has to come from the heart as well. As the heart heals the problem can be seen with greater clarity; thus even being able to take responsibility.

Why not just stay out of casinos? Pretty simple unless you live across the street from Harrah's.

Gambling to me: Seeing those older people in crappy clothes, cigarette dangling from their mouths, repeatedly pulling the arm on the slots, with glazed over eyes and a bored expression on their faces. I find it at best, a waste of time, but really, pathetic.

Gambling is fun. Personally, I like the card machines. Some people make a lifestyle out if it, though.
I have a few friends who are addicted to playing bingo. It's filling a void in their lives - they're unhappy and winning is probably just as good as having a good relationship with their spouse. In other words, I would wager that Bingo is fulfilling their 'emotional' needs. Good old dependable Bingo.
I don't really like bingo, BORING.

They don't build new and bigger casinos by loosing.

What do ya mean do I like gambling? I live in freakin' NEVADA don't I? Why else do you think Nevada has NO STATE INCOME TAX? Yup. Gambling.
I've lived in gambling towns, Vegas and Reno, for going on eight years now, and I rarely gamble. As a matter of fact I rarely go to the casinos. They're for tourists. I do occasionally go to the casino to eat or see a show. Some of the best restaurants in town are in the casinos. Believe me, it is possible to enter and exit a casino WITHOUT gambling. Most of the time when I do gamble, it's because somebody is visiting from out of town and wants to because they can't where they're from. Gambling can become an addiction though, but there's all the help you can ask for locally, just like if you were a drug addict.
I see nothing wrong with gambling. This state has had legal gambling almost for as long as it's been a state, and it's regulated it rather well, and it's made this state a lot of revenue.

Gambling, like most other things in life is meant to be fun. If you follow a few basic rules, you'll be fine.
A) Learn where the "Cash Out" button is, and how to activate it.
B) When in Vegas, playing slots, play the machines closest to the main entrance - they're most likely to give you something back - casinos want people to see other people winning - it draws them in.
C) Don't spend more than you're willing to lose in hopes of "getting it back". You won't. Period.
D) If you drop $100, and win $200, put the original $100 back in your pocket, and just play with the $100 you won.
Oh, and Bingo isn't boring - it was good for over $50,000 one year. :D

I am not against gambling in any way. Drinking and smoking bother me a lot more. All three are ways of throwing money away. At least with gambling, you occasionally get some return.
I am totally in favor of Las Vegas. My husband's sister makes very good money as a floor supervisor in one of the casinos there. We also get comp rooms and meals. :)
I am not a huge gambler. Though I did like it when my sister and I won $1200 on a slot machine once.

Was just waiting for the first person to mention hold 'em!
Hold em is awesome! I play at least twice a month, i'm currently on a year long quest to qualify for a WPT event through an online qualifier, unsuccessful so far.
To me though even in a casino things like hold em and blackjack aren't so much gambling as are things like keno, slots and craps. In blackjack you have some control in what happens to you and in hold em................its not about your cards, its about reading the other people and the situation at hand, a good player will win more often than not and can win even when he's card poor on the night.
I also love casinos, love everything about them. My one wish though woyuld to have been the age I am now back in the rat pack days of Vegas.
Could be- I did enjoy Pinochle. :salute:
You would love hold em! I have a 30 dollar buy in tournament with friends and their friends at my house every once in a while. Its cool because if you finish in the money its usually a nice payout and if you get schooled or take a bad beat or two ehhh....your only out 30 bucks.

My husband's sister, who is a floor supervisor at a Vegas casino, says card players are often sucked in by their own success. The good players will go on a run, then get up and leave. Or, conversely, will quit if they have a run of bad hands.
The suckers will go a couple of thousand up, then get overconfident and give it back. That is why the casinos reward players who spend a lot of time at the tables. Because they know that the long-term odds are never in the players' favor.
Card players are very superstitious. If someone wins big at a table, they will return to the same table. If there is a different dealer, they get really upset.
Card counters and other cheats only succeed once. There is so much surveillance, live and on tape, it is unreal. They can take a photo of you and run it through a computer. If you are banned, an alarm will go off if you try to enter any casino in Vegas.
Pretty amazing shit.
One myth I had disproved is that the casinos want slot players to lose. They actually want you to win, and make a big deal of it when you do. Winning big jackpots draws in more people. A big win encourages everyone in the general vicinity.

I came upon a Blackjack table with one woman playing one night. A bunch of men surrounding the table, security as it turns out. You are describing blackjack, in hold em at the casinos a good player will always come out ahead because there is alwaya a gaggle of suckers ready to jump into a 1-2 no limit game and they wear their tells on their sleeves like a new bright shiny tattoo.
Its always been my edxperience that the blackjack games are rigged, i'm always getting 1 upped by the casino, thats why I quit that game and went to hold em where I can make Johnny from Tuscaloosa have to make a decision on whether he wants to play that jack ten offsuit for 300 dollars all in.
Did I tell you I love hold em?

Let me guess you got overagressive out of position and got caught with your hand in the cookie jar by someone with pocket kk or rockets and that was all she wrote.
For the last 3 months and continuing till march the local optimist club here is having a hold em tournament, oct. thru march are qualifiers and the final is in april, 70 dollar buy in. Didn't play in Oct. finished 36th out of 200 in Nov. and last month......fugghedabout it. Its about 45 minutes into the night and i'm on the big blind holding a 3-5 offsuit, it gets called around to me so I knock and say lets see the flop, flop comes 2-4-6 and i', like "sweet! the nuts! The guy next to me bets, I just call and this chick calls, the turn comes another 6, this guy bets a thousand and I raise him up to 3,000 and the chick calls, the flop comes ANOTHER 6! And i'm like "fuck!" I'm thinking one of these people is holding a 6, the guy checks and I say screw it "all in" but I had put the chick on A-6, the chick hems and haws for a few minutes which tells me she didn't have the 6, finally she calls my all in and LO AND FUCKING BEHOLD SHE THROWS UP POCKET JJ! I pulled my best Phil Hellmuth and said "how in the hell did you not raise on the turn(I would've went all in), you had the overpair on the board and I know you didn't put me on that straight".....................got up and walked the hell away steaming.
Sometimes people who have no clue what they are doing(if they did you would've taken the pot) suck out and take it all.

Casinos love slot machines. They don't take breaks and they're never sick. A slot machine is basically the perfect employee. Also, slot machines are the VERY worst gamble in the house. If you want to lose a bunch of money fast, play a slot machine. The best gambling odds in a casino are those where you have some control over the game, which are most all the card games.
